Hilton Cataract Initiative (HCI) in Sub Saharan Africa
Hilton Foundation, Dr. Al Sommer, Dana Centre - Wilmer Eye Institute, LAICO – Aravind Eye Care System and five committed ophthalmologists from Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) have come together to develop sustainable high volume eye hospitals that provides high quality cataract services to the communities in their respective service populations. This is an online performance monitoring platform that allows participating hospitals to enable them to – (1) to track their performance over time using objective data to assess service volumes, productivity, and cost recovery and (2) document the developments made by the hospitals, challenges faced and the solutions implemented. This platform also allows the hospitals to compare their performance against specific indicators with the hospitals registered on the network.
